Set oven to 350°F (175°C). Put parchment paper on two baking sheets.

Beat butter and sugar until fluffy and light, about 3 minutes. Stir in vanilla until well mixed.

Mix in flour and salt slowly until dough forms. Don't mix too much.

Make 1-inch balls or pipe dough with star tip. Place cookies 2 inches apart on sheets.

Cook for 10-12 minutes until edges turn slightly golden. Centers should stay light.

Let sit 5 minutes on sheet, then move to cooling rack.
