Tender Caramelized Apples (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Base Ingredients

01 - 4 tablespoons butter
02 - 5–6 tart apples, peeled, cored, and cut into 1/2-inch wedges (about 2 lb)

→ Seasonings & Sweeteners

03 - ¼ cup packed brown sugar
04 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
05 - Pinch of salt

→ Prevent Browning

06 - Juice of 1 lemon (or bottled lemon juice)

# Instructions:

01 - Start by peeling, coring, and slicing your apples into 1/2-inch wedges. Squeeze the juice of half a lemon over the slices and toss gently to prevent browning while you prep the rest.
02 - In a trusty cast-iron skillet (or any heavy-bottomed pan), melt the butter over medium heat until it’s bubbly and fragrant.
03 - Add the apple slices to the skillet. Sprinkle on the brown sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Give everything a good stir to coat the apples evenly.
04 - Cover the skillet and let the apples cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. You’ll know they’re ready when they’re soft, golden, and beautifully caramelized.
05 - Once the apples reach that perfect tenderness, remove from heat and serve warm. They’re amazing on their own, but even better paired with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream!

# Notes:

01 - These fried apples pair wonderfully with breakfast dishes or as a cozy dessert.
02 - For an extra touch of flavor, sprinkle some nutmeg or a drizzle of honey before serving.
