Chocolate Chip Scones (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Dry Ingredients

01 - 2 cups all-purpose flour
02 - ¼ cup sugar
03 - 1 ¼ teaspoon baking powder
04 - ¼ teaspoon baking soda
05 - ¼ teaspoon salt

→ Wet Ingredients

06 - ½ cup unsalted butter, cold
07 - ¾ cup buttermilk
08 - 1 tsp vanilla extract

→ Mix-ins and Topping

09 - 1 cup dark chocolate chips
10 - Extra milk for brushing
11 - Sugar for sprinkling

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to 400°F.
02 - Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
03 - Grate cold butter using cheese grater, then blend into flour mixture using pastry cutter until mixture looks like coarse crumbs.
04 - Mix chocolate chips into flour mixture.
05 - Mix buttermilk and vanilla, then combine with flour mixture until just incorporated. Do not overmix.
06 - On floured surface, briefly knead dough and shape into 1½-inch thick circle. Cut into 8-10 wedges.
07 - Place wedges on parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush tops with milk and sprinkle with sugar.
08 - Bake 20-22 minutes until golden brown and toothpick comes out clean. Cool on wire rack.

# Notes:

01 - Use fresh baking powder (less than 1 year old)
02 - Cold or frozen butter works best
03 - Do not overmix for tender scones
