Combine blackberries, balsamic vinegar, sugar, lemon juice, and salt in saucepan. Bring to boil, then simmer. Crush berries and cook 7-10 minutes until thickened. Cool.

Slice brie into ½ inch thick slices.

Heat skillet on medium heat, keeping temperature moderate to allow cheese to melt properly.

Butter one side of four bread slices. Place butter side down in pan. Top with brie slices and thyme.

Spread thick layer of blackberry jam on remaining bread slices. Place jam side down over brie.

Butter top bread slices, flip sandwiches, and cook until golden and cheese melts.

Let cool briefly before cutting in half with sharp knife.
